As a Contact/Coordinator for this draft of the report, my role is to facilitate the consultations and mediate the discussions -- helping to consolidate the input and feedback to the authors. Perhaps in anticipation of a future update that paints an even-more-focused picture of our species.

Don't Leave This to the 'Experts' -- Get Involved

I apologize for repeating myself on this point, but it is so important that I can't help it. Recall, once again, that this is a very broad-based initiative. It is not only for "experts" or "specialists".

In fact, I believe that there are no experts in this field, at least in the conventional academic sense. Our remit crosses so many of the traditional academic disciplines that they intertwine and interconnect in unexpected and even delightful ways. To the extent that no one person - and especially no one discipline --can claim to encompass all such knowledge, these days.

But all can participate. All can contribute their views. For only thus will we discover the diversity that will provide the balance we need. Only thus will we achieve a sensible understanding of this species, of ourselves.

Crack the door into this room where all come together, to speak and listen, with respect and dignity to one another. Perhaps even, tentatively at first, to dance together one day...? This could be the meeting place for the disciplines of humanity, the place where they come together for the species and its future. Let Are They Human Yet? guide the way, open the door a bit, to allow just a whiff of the fresh air of the survival of a species to flow in.
