These are the kinds of questions that will occur to you as you read this draft report, too. Except that your questions will not be exactly the same as mine. Now will your partner's be the same as yours, nor your neighbor's, nor...

We need to think coherently, broadly and generously about these questions. We need to share our beliefs and feelings candidly and openly. We need to inform them with the latest science from all the relevant disciplines (and there are many, as we have seen). And ultimately, we may also have to act on these shared, emerging beliefs.

But for now, in your own life, you will find that the principles of Humans Being Human apply -- even in the draft, preliminary form they are set out in Are They Human Yet?. You will discover how some of the tendencies we have as males and females are nearly universal - that is, all human males share some and all human females share some - and they are different, male from female.

After reading this report, you will find that you will observe, feel and think differently about your fellow humans with the basic understanding you will glean from this little report. You will find that the principles work in small groups as well as large, in your own life. They work in the home, at school and in the workplace. You will be surprised, and intrigued, and ever more curious, too. It becomes a kind of addiction, this figuring out your own species.

The thinking in this report needs to be engaged and re-engaged. Discussed and re-discussed. This species, we ourselves need to "think big" about ourselves. I even imagine us imagining where we would like to be and how we would like to act in the future. Within quite broad limits, I believe we have the power to change ourselves, to expect that such far-sighted goals are achievable.

But we must think about it, first - and then of course act on it - with prudence and caution and self-awareness - at some point in the future. But more of that later.

For now, I believe so strongly in the principles in Are They Human Yet?, that I think everyone should be exposed to them, and become involved in some way. If you read this draft and it doesn't incite or inspire or inform you to do something in your own life, I will gladly refund your money. In fact, I'll stand behind it for a full year.
